Our Ziplining Canopy Tour

We went to on a ziplining canopy tour in the rainforest about an hour outside of Quepos. This is the first time I had ever been ziplining and it was AWESOME! First we had to get all of our gear on. Rachel got to be the guinea pig and demonstrate how to use the gear in front of everyone :) She did great!

That was our guide, Jorge, who also happened to have taught soccer at a small college in Minnesota for 5 years and married a woman from Minnesota. We Minnesotans are everywhere!

Andrew is psyched to zipline!

Getting the gear on--wow, it's tight! I guess that's better than too loose, wouldn't want to fall out, ha ha :)

Ready to go!

Here are the six of us--Barry & Chels stayed at the restaurant and walked around some of the trails while the rest of us were out on the lines. They had 10 ziplines, 2 repel lines from up in the canopy, and 1 Tarzan swing. Get ready for some great shots! These are the pictures the guides took of us while we were on the tour.

Me on the first repel. I had never done it before and everyone was shouting at me to loosen my hand up so I would go down the rope faster. Yeah right! I wasn't about to cause my own broken leg, ha ha.

It was pretty far down, but fun!

Rachel was a natural, smiling the whole way down.

More smiles on the first repel!

Next up was the Tarzan swing. As you can see, I was not so sure about that one. We are what seems like a million feet off the ground, standing on a narrow platform, and the guides give you a rope to hang on to and then say "okay, jump!". Yeah, right!

I'll admit it, I shut my eyes right before I made it to the other side. I wasn't about to watch while I smacked into the tree, or let go of the rope, no way!!! :) It was actually kind of fun, once I was safely on the other side and caught by the guide.

Looking a little nervous...

No nerves here, Rachel's all smiles!

Andrew flying through the air with the greatest of ease

Look at how high up we were, wow!

Cindy's not so sure...

Hold on!

Boo's smiling but seems a little nervous. It was high up and scary! But over before what you were doing really sunk in, thank goodness.

She made it, whew!

Dan also made it over, last but not least!

I was the first of the family to make it across the last zipline, but I was the only one who didn't go upside down. No way! I'm very accident prone and was pretty sure I'd get a cable burn on my legs if I was flailing upside down... No, thank you :)

Next up is Andrew, piece of cake

Cindy aced it

Dan also went upside down, but was too quick for the photographer.

We all made it and had an awesome time. I can't wait to do it again! :)
